Family Adventures - The Narrows
Hiking The Narrows at Zion National Park in August was an unforgettable adventure, filled with breathtaking scenery and unique challenges. To prepare for you trek, you'll want to equip yourselves with sturdy hiking sticks, essential tools that provide stability. If you've never used them, you'll thank us later! We were there after a big rain and so the water looked like chocolate milk. You weren't sure if you were stepping into 8 inches or 2 feet without using our hiking sticks to verify. As a mom, I'm thinking "please God don't let my kid drop down 2 feet because then she's soaking wet and the hike may or may not be done".
What to wear/not wear —water tennis shoes complemented by neoprene socks worked great for us. They kept our feet comfortable and warm enough, while allowing us to traverse the uneven terrain with confidence. We saw people in flip flops trying to do this. Now don't get me wrong, I love me some flip flops. But friends, this is not the place. Those were the people falling in the water constantly and turning back.
With each step, you are surrounded by towering canyon walls that soared majestically overhead, their beauty intensified by the summer sun that filtered through the narrow passage. . Every curve in the river revealed a new view, a testament to God's artistry that left us in awe. It's so hard to take it all in on one trip!
The Narrows echoed with the sounds of splashing water and our laughter as we shared moments of discovery and joy, making this August hike an epic memory etched in our minds.
Tips:

Pack water & snacks ... c'mon someone in the family is either thirsty or hungry!
Pack a few bandaids ... waterproof definitely help out!
Gear:
Clothing:
Summertime - UV Shirts are super great! Shorts/tshirts/good grip tennis shoes .. not hiking boots because they are too heavy in the water
Fall - pending the weather, gaiters will be a must!
